Meet Our Chef
Chef Jose Gomez' love for cooking began at a young age, when he enjoyed cooking for family and friends. His pursuit of a culinary career led him to enroll at the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY.
Having received training from several world-renowned chefs, including Charlie Palmer, Michael Mina, Roland Passot and Jean-Georges Vongerichten, Chef Gomez held Executive Chef positions at The Waldorf Astoria Panama and The Waldorf Astoria the Reach in Key West, Florida. Chef Gomez also transformed the food and beverage programs at The Hyatt Ziva and Zilara Hotels in Jamaica – placing their culinary offerings in the top five among Hyatt properties throughout the Americas.
Chef Gomez owned a catering business in Puerto Rico that specialized in servicing the cinematographic industry in the Caribbean. He cooked for many celebrities including Robert De Niro, Matt Damon, Jennifer Lopez, Sigourney Weaver, Angelina Jolie and the late Gene Hackman.
Now, through Joyful Tasting, Chef Gomez brings his passion and talent to your kitchen where he will demonstrate and teach culinary skills that will improve your cooking craft while creating wonderful memories with your loved ones.
